can any one tell me if it pos to trace my grandad`s birth parents

Adoptions weren't "legally" done until 1927. Prior to this it was usually an informal agreement between birth parent and the adoptees.



Do you have the dates of your Grandads birth & death?



If you have his birth date...what name was he registered under?



I recently read a post on another site where the birth mother was single and she had died 2 days after the birth...the child was registered under the adopted parents name...however his mothers name was "known" to him as he grew up....hence his birth mother was traced. this was just before the turn of the century.



Maybe a baptism record may throw light on the situation as well
