Thread: Parents of Violet Ashcroft nee Campbell, Wooler

Hello



I am doing pretty well with one side of my family the Ashcrofts who I have managed to get back to 1660. Unfortunatley I am unable to find out anything about my great grandparents on the Campbell side.



My father, Alan Ashcroft was born in 1936 in Wooler, Northumberland



His father was Arnold Ashcroft 1910 (born in Pemberton, Lancashire) and his mother was Violet Campbell 1912. This is where I am stuck! So far I have been unable to find any records of Violets mother and father. I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer.

1933 2nd Qtr Berwick Vol 10b Pg 1043

sending for this would give you Violet's father's name and occupation.



Was wondering if Violet could possibly be Scottish... Light has searched for a birth for her but unable to pinpoint one..

I have just been talking to my father who tells me that he thinks that one of his cousins might have a death certificate for Robert Campbell who was killed in the battle of the Somme. He apparently was serving with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers but even this information is very sketchy. I have no DOB or anything else for that matter.



I will keep looking.

The Battle of the Somme, also known as the Somme Offensive, was fought from July to November 1916, was among the largest battlle of the 1st world war.



Doesn't really help with the 2 CWGC you found.....but gives an idea of date of death.
