Thread: Question about Birth certificate

Hi all



Just received a birth certificate, and am a little confused about the mother's name, as this is the 1st one I've looked at.



The certificate is for Martin Connell, and his mother's name is down as Mary Ann Connell, late Holly, formally Woolley. Does this mean that her maiden name was Woolley, but that she was married before?

Yes, that is correct. Sometimes the Late name is entered last, i.e Mary Ann Holly, late Woolley.
