    Default Eva Pettican (Green)

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out on a question. Eva Pettican b.1875 in West Bergholt, Essex married Arthur William Green (b. West Mersea, Essex) in 1896 in Hendon. By the 1901 census they had two children Percy born about 1899 and Minnie born about 1900 and were living in Hendon. Would it be possible to find out if they had any more children at all? Obviously it is likely that if any more were born they would be born only a few years apart from the first two.

This may be a dead end on finding out but I thought it best to ask anyway.

    Thanks

    Eva Green 25

    John Green 14

    Minnie Green 8 months

    Percy Green 2
Ive just looked on the 1901 census and youre right they had 2 children, with the info provided on the census i did a search for hendon area births post 1901 and got - only 1 other birth with the same criteria came up with surname of Green and mother of Pettican in Hendon area

    Sep qtr 1915 - Peggy W Green - mothers maiden name Pettican - Hendon 3a 724

this means there was a 15 yr gap between 2 siblings, so it may not be correct!!

Sonstar, thanks very much for the look up. There were quite a few Pettican's (all family related) living in Hendon at the time so that info may well become useful a little later down the line - thanks very much!!

Hi Pettican - the problem is that Green is such a common name. The indexes don't show mothers maiden name until September quarter 1911 which is why there seems to be such a wide gap between births. If you use the freeBMD site (put in Green, dates & Hendon) you will see the difficulty! You might need to wait for the 1911 census unfortunately

    Gillian
