The change in the law in 2005 Now Enables your Adopted Relative to be traced. HOWEVER this can ONLY be done through a third party regulated INTERMEDIARY SERVICE.

The courts and the Registrar General now have to give the information they hold relating to your relatives Adoption to the Intermediary Service.

Once they have found the Adopted person, the Adoptee will decide whether they want contact or not.

Priority will be given to cases involving adoptions that took place before 12th November 1975.

There are many agencies who can help with the Intermediary service. One being After Adoption UK.They are Brilliant!!

Give them a ring its a free phone number.... 0800 0 568 578

Also many of the original Adoption Agencies still exist and have their own Intermediary Service in place. You will have to contact your local social services department who may be able to advise you on this.
