Thread: Eric Pettican

Hi folks,



I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. My granddad Ronald Ernest Pettican b.1920 in Colchester had a brother called Eric. All my family tell me he was younger than Ron by a couple of years but when I look on Ancestry uk the only two Eric Pettican's born in Colchester were one who died aged 0 (my Eric is still alive) and one born in 1917. Now this one interests me but I was wondering if there was another Eric Pettican born in Essex a few years after 1920? Or are members of my family simply wrong?



Any help would be good.

I couldn't see any other Eric Pettican either so it looks as if your family are wrong - the only way of being completely certain is to buy the birth certificate.

Do you know Ronald's mother's maiden name? Also have you found a marriage for his parents', if so where and when were they married?

Ronald's mother's maiden name was Warren, Daisy Warren. From what I gather Ronald's parents (Ernest Pettican and Daisy Warren) were married in 1920 in Hendon. I hope this helps.

If this is the Eric you found born 1917.....then he can't be yours.....as HIS mother's maiden name was Pettican, not WARREN.

After a good night's sleep I have found Eric - I didn't look far enough before - birth Sep quarter 1928 Eric R Pettican - Colchester 4a 1302 mothers maiden name Warren
