Greetings all ... I'm here again
I've picked up on another distant relative who might just be related to an Antipodean colleague at work and wonder if someone could do a look-up on the 1901 Census for me?
ALFRED GEE was born 21 May 1897 in Kirkby Fleetham, Bedale, Yorkshire, and died 02 Dec 1973 in 62 Kirkliston, Linlithgow, West Lothian. He married ISABELLA INA ROLLO SMITH PRYDE 23 Jun 1932 in Ceres Parish Church, Ceres, Fife, daughter of JAMES PRYDE and MARGARET SMITH. She was born 24 Apr 1906 in Ceres, Fife, and died 20 May 1984 in Bangour Hospital, Uphall, West Lothian.
ALFRED worked, in 1912, at the Kremlin Stables, Newmarket, Cambridgeshire. He was apprenticed as a jockey to Joseph Butters who trained horses for King George V and the Aga Khan. In 1919 he was working as a groom at The Kennels, Tidworth, Herts., when he was recalled to army service. When he was discharged in 1919, he had become taller and too heavy to return to racing. His Colonel was instrumental in getting him into Hunt Service and between 1921 and 1938 was in service with a number of different packs of hounds in England and Scotland. From 1938 to 1960 he was based at Golfhall Kennels, Corstorphine,Edinburgh as a Huntsman with Linlithgow & Stirlingshire Foxhounds.
