Thread: allen lovell

Allen Lovell was born c. 1801 I have been told he was baptised at Aston Nr. Bristol He later moved to Liverpool and married Maria Carey in 1834, he was a master mariner. Is there any way of getting hold of his baptism record mainly to find out who his parents were. Also is there anything online to find out more of his career

Doesn't the person who told you have baptism details or are they going on a census for his birthplace/date information?



I can't find an Aston near Bristol on modern map or in Genuki.



If he was a master mariner his records would be at The Natonal Archives in Kew.

His death cert would give his rough age, but that won't get you further forward.



You could try ordering the parish baptism registers for the parish from your nearest LDS centre, if you knew what the parish was!

Hi Helen Thanks a lot for the info. I had done quite a lot on the family tree when earlier this year I was given a copy of what an uncle had done years ago. Don't know how he did it without a computer. but although we had the same people he had a bit more detail

Allen was born in Ashton Nr. Bristol not Aston as I said.

Plus Allens death cert. says he was 52 in Aug 1856

Havn't seen the site about Bristol before just had a quick peep and it looks very promising. It will have to wait till tonight now as I have to go and pick up the grandchildren soon.

I have the Bristol baptism index but he isn't on there. I guess his place of birth is Long Ashton . I could look at the parish registers at the end of next week if this would help?

Hi Marjorie - unfortunately the registers for that date are almost impossible to read but I think there is an entry for Allan Lovell christening early Jan 1802 (possibly 9th) parents Samuel (this really is a guess) and Ann (the Ann is clear)

Hi Just thought Allen or Allen Lovell Had one son called Samuel so its quite likely he was called after his grandfather.
