Will a death certificate pre 1851 tell me if a lady was married or a spinster?

Basically it depends where the certificate is from and who was the informant.Even modern certs don't always give that information .
If it just gives her name, she is probably a spinster. If it says "wife of" or "widow of" in the occupation column, then she was married.
Thanks Helen and Jane. Worth a shot I think.
Cheers
