Help. I am lost in Lambeth. I have found records of my ancestors on the IGI but as it is only an index, would the film have more information or would it be the same thing?![]()

Sometimes more information - depends on date - less often in the earlier entries. Marriages may give witnesses which can sometimes help. If the groom comes from a different parish it may be stated. Burials sometimes give name of spouse or parents in the case of young children. It is always worth checking though don't be too optimistic! What are you looking at?

Hi Gillian, Thanks for your help.Looking at a baptism in 1839 St MArk Kennington, The girl would have been 16 and her sister baptised 1839 [7 months later]. She would have been 13. I was wondering if the parents were still actually alive as there seem to be no sign of them on the 1841 census. The parents are listed on the IGI baptism but a second name is given for the father. In the baptism of the older children at St Mary Lambeth,[as infants] only the fathers first name. No maiden name for the mother on either one.[definately the same family] Their father was baptised at St MAry LAmbeth 1780 and his brother 1788. There was no marriage for their parents.
There seems to be blood links with a couple of other Miller families but I cant find the connection.
I have just been told that I can only view the films at a LDS office anyway so it is no good to me as I cant get to one.
Do you have any Ideas? I am stumped on this family.
At that date there may well be some additional information. If you post all the details I will see if I can check them for you
Gillian
Thank you Gillian. William Henry Miller b 1782 and brother Elisha Ginvey Miller 1788 St Mary Lambeth, Parents William and Mary.
William married a Sarah [unknown] Their children were
William Albert 1804 St MAry Lambeth,
Louisa Sophia 1806 St Mary Lambeth,
John Joseph 1811, St Mary Lambeth.
Mary 1/9/1822 bapt 3/3/1839 St Mark Kennington, LAmbeth
Matilda 20/3/1826 bapt 4/12/1839 St Mark Kennington.
Louisa and MAry are with a Caroline Miller aged 70 independant in 1841 census.
Elisha Miller and a John James Miller sign Mary and Louisa`s marriage certificate 1851 & 1855
John James is son of John and Eleanor. He was boorn 1801 bapt St Mary Lambeth.
John James Miller has Mary`s children with him on 1871 census and says he is their uncle. I suspect John James and William and Elisha might be cousins but cant find a baptism for his father Johna t St MAry lambeth.
Anyway, If you can make any sense from this I would be very grateful.
Is there anything I can do for you from Australian perspective? I have Victorian [state] BDM and SW Victorian cemetery index![]()
Hi seeker - I'll have a look for you. Not sure how long it will take - the time taken for ordered films to arrive varies. Probably about 3 weeks
Gillian
Thank you Gillian. I really appreciate it. Cheers![]()
