Can anyone find out if he lived in 142 Haig Avenue Southport, Lancashire... with his wife Mabel Bentley (jones) etc

It says Mabel got the ship 1948 (june 19th) hubby didnt travel with her and the kids though. so dunno when he went!!!

Which ship are you referring to?

Have also checked Liverpool and Suburb's Street Directory 1938 which is the nearest I have to the date quoted and am unable to confirm a listing for Alexander Jones at Haig Avenue, sorry. Maybe someone will pick up on this thread who can help you.

maybe he didnt live there with Mabel then, maybe they married and he lived somewhere else before they departed to nz. My records show that the ship was: SS Rangitata Mrs Mabel Jones H/D was on that journey on 19th June 1948.



I have no other info on him at all.



My family did refer to him as Alec/Alex jones if that helps.

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer with my reply,the directory doesn't cover Southport unfortunately.

Think i just found his birth record and marraige record:



Alexander Dunbar JOnes mar quarter 1907 - west derby lancashire = BORN

Alexander D Jones and Mabel Bentley Dec quarter 1930 - west derby = MARRAIGE!!



Think he passed in NZ in 1960 - need to confirm that though!



Maybe this helps work out where he lived up until he emmigrated!!!

Have rechecked 1938 Liverpool Street Directory and found the following:



Alex D Jones - 13 Haworth Drive,Orrell,Bootle (Hairdresser)

It may not be him, but it's the only one listed.

thats him thank you so much!! 13 Haworth Drive was where my grandad lived with mabel and alice at one time, i didnt realise Alex had lived there too
