Thread: need help finding D'erf wheeler

Hello i am having great difficulty tracing my dad's side of the family so any help would be greatly appreciated . The only info i have is that his name was william lansdowne D'erf wheeler . He had 4 sister's millicent, janet, lucy and mary who commited suicide . I believe his parent's names were edgar and grace. There were stories that they lived in bangalore, india but how true this is i have no idea. Shoukld anyone come accross this name in their searches please let me know as i have looked on and off for two years and have found nothing. Thank you

Is there anyone alive that could give you any info? no matter how small and insignificant it may seem to be.

Hi nanna the only info i have managed to find out was that he was born i believe in 1904 in bangalore india my brother told me last night he thinks he was also in the british army but we have no idea what he did. I did follow up another story about them owning tea plantations but i found nothing. he married my mum i believe in acton her name was beryl jean allen. We have nothing on him at all not even his passport which would have been a great help. His full name was william lansdown ? (not sure if that is spelt right )d'erf wheeler

have checked through the rest of the India Office Family History Search and there is nothing else mentioned for the family..

Was it usual in india not to put the mother name can anyone tell me please? No wonder i could not find anything i was looking for the full surname how strange they only used the lansdowne part. Thank you again

I think they only gave his first names, as the surname was already recorded with Janet as Wheeler..
