Default Look Up Please. Samuel Bann. (1891)

    Hi

Looking for info on Samuel Bann born c1823 Stockport

married to Catherine in 1857 in Stockport. Catherine born in Ireland 1837 and died in Stockport 1911.

They had 6 children Richard born 1858 Mary Catherine b 1860

    Thomas born 1863

    Josiah born 1865

    Walter born 1868

    Esther Jane born 1871

I found Samuel in the 1881 Census living as inmate in Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum

His wife Catherine in the 1881 Census, still married as the Head of Household with her children.

I'd love to know if Samuel was back with his wife Catherine in 1891 or whether he died in Broadmoor.

    Thanks.

""Berkshire Record Office has recently received the historic archives of Broadmoor Hospital, previously known as Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum. These archives are currently being listed and repaired thanks to a grant from The Wellcome Trust. The archive will be made available for research in autumn 2008""

    Broadmoor Asylum

Originally called Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum, located in Crowthorne, Berkshire. It opened for 95 female patients on 27th May 1863. The male section opened the following year. It changed from being a prison to a hospital on 1st April, 1948 under the National Health Service.

    Records Available

    Berkshire Record Office

Now if there were any records available I bet they'd make for an interesting read

    Hi Pauline,

Only just seen the Samuel Bann thread. Did you find him in the end?
    He was a relative of mine and I have his death as being 4 June 1893, ref: 1893 : Apr - Jun : Easthampstead (1837 - 1937) : 2c : 245
    Hope this helps.
