    Default Poole Hunns

    Hi All

I am trying to connect up a family of Hunns I found in Dorset.

Richard Hannen Hunn, born 1832 in Poole died 1888 Islington married Mary Ann Waterman 1863

    and

Henry Hannen Hunn, born 1836 in Poole died 1918 West Ham married Sophia Stap Caseley 1860

I believe they are brothers and their parents were Richard Doughty Hunn (of Poole) and Sarah Hannen (of Fordingbridge) who were married on 04.11.1834 in Fordingbridge.

As yet I only have to '81 census for these two.

    Thanks IA

    Baz

Hi, I have just come across this old thread, but thought I would answer in case my info could help.

I have the last surviving Hunn in my tree. She is the grand daughter of your Henry Hannan Hunn. Henry is definitely the son of Richard Doughty Hunn and Sarah Hannan. I cannot tie in Richard, but Henry had six daughters and five sons. Of the males, only Leonard had children, one son and one daughter. Only this daughter had children, so this line seems to be at an end. If you would like any info, I havre names and some dates and places which you may have. They were quite an unusual family, and travelled widely. There is still information missing about some of them. Hope this is of interest.

Hi, I would be grateful for any information you could give me. Although, I have his son William Hannen Hunn also having issue, a Cecilia Dorothy Hannen Hunn who married Gerald Ernest Hannen Lange (son of Kate Hannen Hunn), her first cousin and at least one child, Marian, resulted.

Must run now, as meeting a new member of the family!

You are absolutely right, Baz. I have just been corrected by my wife (it is her mother's family who are the Hunns). Uncle Will had a daughter. I think she is known about by the family. I am the researcher, but am being guided by others!! When it is not your own family, details can be misplaced. Let me know what may interest you. Do you have all of Henry's children? Leonard was my wife's maternal grandfather.

How do you attach to the Hunn family? (If you don't mind me asking.) Willie.

Hey, I think I've got them all..... I have:

    Sarah Hannen (1861-1897) m. Frederic O. WILLIAMS

    Ann Hannen (1862-1862)

    Sophia Doughty (1863-1866)

Henry Hannen (1864-?); probably died in the Bahamas

    Eliza Stap (1865-?)

Albert Doughty (1868-?); probably died in the US

    Richard Doughty (1869-?)

    Florence Caseley (1872-1881)

    William Hannen (1875-?) m. Gertrude M. PLAYER

    Leonard Hannen (1877-?) m. Annie M. RUMSEY

    Kate Hannen (1879-?) m. Charles A. C. LANGE

As for how I connect; I don't! Currently working on a one-name Hunn study and have mainly been concentrating on the ones from Norfolk, now looking further abroad... Haven't yet formulated an idea on where these folk fit into the grand scheme of things, but, geographically, they're likely to be related to the Hunns from Hampshire (Portsmouth/Portsea) or those from the Cornwall/Devon border (Calstock). Do you have any information on Richard's ancestry?

Yes, Baz, that looks like all of them.

    Bert died in 1915.

    Leonard died in 1964.

I'm afraid we are all stuck at the moment with Richard, we have not been able to get further back. It would need a visit to the area I think, and as I am in the far north of Scotland, that is not easy.

Thanks for taking time to reply. You may have given me a little clue for another search. I'll let you know if anything arises. Lochfoot.
