Thread: Whiteland-Can I search forwards instead of backwards?

Hello, Have previously asked for help in finding my ggrandfather Henry Whiteland 1846c and kind folks have looked but been unable to locate him.



I have a family tree of Whiteland's going back to 1771. Would it be an idea to trace them forwards instead of backwards? if that makes sense.



I have a THOMAS JOHN WHITELAND dob 20/10/1818 married to Sarah Moore on 28/08/1844 . Would it be possible to find out their offspring and trace them through the census. I have a feeling they are the parents of Henry but cann't find the connection. If they are Henry's folks would it be possible to trace him through to Aust?



Henry married Lucy Taylor in Sydney, Australia on 30th July 1870. No mention of their parents.

I did find a death for a Sarah Whiteland that might coincide with Thomas being noted as a Widower

Thanks for your quick response. That certainly helps and sounds like the right Henry.

He doesn't appear on the 1861 census which would make him 15. How do I find where he went from there? If he migrated to Aust between 1851 and 1861 where would I look for any records of that, do you have any idea's?

Wow that sure sounds like him, although he was born 1846 and that would make him 19 on arrival, a small matter of difference. Would it have his parents names on the records? My Henry married Lucy Ann Taylor in sydney, aust in 1870, but there was no parents names mentioned nor on his death. But seems we are getting closer. Many thanks.
