I'm searching for a marriage of William Gaffney and Ellen McAnn who are listed in the 1881 and 1891 census of England. William was born ~ 1853 and Ellen ~1857, both in Ireland. In 1881, they were living in Everton, Liverpool in the ecclesiastical parish of St. Leonard. I need to know the Catholic church where the children were baptized for additional information on this couple. Thanks, Philion

I would take the the IGI entry from Family Search with a pinch of salt unless you can verify it!

Many thanks to the very rapid response to my query about Wm. Gaffney and Ellen McCann. The large group of researchers starting from Winnard to Gallagher confirmed my information about the children of this couple. Today, I received from Nanna the date of the marriage (1875) which took place in Liverpool , or Everton. This is information I did not possess and I hope will be the key to at last finding the Church marriage record which should divulge the parents of this couple. Now, does the LRO divulge the parents of this couple, or do I still need to locate the marriage record from the Church where they were wed?

You would have to buy the cert from GRO or Liverpool to establish the fathers of William and Ellen.

If my memory serves me right, I don't think LRO keep records of Register Office marriages, it may have changed as it is a few years since I was last there.

I think your best bet is to purchse a copy of the marriage certificate either from ONS at

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
