Thread: Pettican's of West Bergholt, Essex UK

Hi all,



I am trying to find out a little more information about the Pettican's of West Bergholt in Essex, England. So far I have been able to go back to a brother and sister called James and Harriett Pettican. Harriett born 1823 and James born 1826, both in West Bergholt. Their father was one William Pettican born in 1791 in Colchester (William's wife might be a Mary).



James Pettican married a Harriett Frost (b.1830 in West Bergholt) and they went on to have a son called William (born 1849). This William ended up marrying one Sarah Ann Fisher (b. 1853) and together they had 10 children (William James (b.1871)/George (b.1873)/Ada (b.1877) /Eva (b.1875) /Daisy (b.1880) /Minnie (b.1891) /Ernest (b.1893) /Frank (b.1888) /Harriett (b.1881) /Elsie (b.1883). For generations the Pettican's lived in Church Lane in West Bergholt. However I think that this lane has now been renamed - does anyone known what it is now called?



I was just wondering if anyone had ANY more information i.e can you find anyone dated earlier than 1791? Or could someone guide me to where I can get more info (I'm already a member of Ancestry UK and have almost exhausted that now).



ANY help would be SO MUCH appreciated on this family line. Incidentally if it is any help for anyone the families of FISHER, FROST and WOODS are also linked to the Pettican's in West Bergholt through marriages. I am happy to exchange any information I have. Thanks.
