Is there a convenient web site (like LDS ) that can be used to trace deaths in Parish records before 1837, like you can trace births and marriages.

In short, Stan, no.
There is the National Burial Index on cd but that is very far from complete. Also because someone was buried in a certain place that does not necessarily mean that they died there. Some Family History Societies have also published burials for parishes in their areas on cd.

Victoria
Hi Stan - the National Burial Index is available on findmypast and on familyhistoryonline - both pay sites
Or post what you are looking for and someone will do a look-up - but as Victoria has indicated coverage is very patchy

Thanks every one I'm still getting the hang of this site so sorry if my response is a bit slow. The replys confirm what I suspected so I'll just have to hope my area has been covered.
Hi Stan, Now that your holiday is well behind you, you have probably been beavering away at your family history research.
Were you able to follow up on the suggested websites? Have you made any progress? Is there anything we can suggest to make your life easier?
Let us know.

Burial registers online on www.freebmd.org.uk - but it doesn't cover all parishes. Check coverage.
Hello Helen, Stan & friends,
Must just point out that www.freebmd.org.uk is Births, Marriages & Deaths only; for Baptisms, Marriages (in Church) & Burials, try http://freereg.rootsweb.com where coverage is improving by leaps & bounds. Another useful FOC site is www.freecen.org.uk but only 1841 – 1891 as yet and very few Districts transcribed.
However, if you strike lucky you should find that, like www.freebmd.org.uk, www.freecen.org.uk is much easier to use & much more reliable than Ancestry and both have access to free images into the bargain!

Sorry, so used to saying Freebmd I forgot I meant Freereg! Thanks.
