Thread: James Lees Look up 1861/1871 Please

I have hit a brickwall as regards James Lees. Hope someone can help.



James Lees born c1817 Oldham Lancashire

Mary ? 1819 born Bakewell Derbyshire (spouse)

Ann Lees b c1853 Oldham Lancashire.

Sarah E Lees born c1856 Oldham

John James Lees born c1860

Mary Elizabeth Lees born c1871 (this is the one I'm stuck on) she'd be too young to be Mary's daughter. or Mary would have been past the child bearing age.

So I'm just hoping that James and Mary had another daughter prior to the one born in 1853.

looking at the 1861 Census they have an older child called Heyward b1851 and he too was born in Lancs..

I have checked the 1881 Census and if you check in the relationship column for Mary Elizabeth Lees, there are ditto marks under the "grand" part of grandson John James Gilpin

Bless you, that's brilliant, thankyou I have got some of the Lees family and Sarah E Lees Married Edward Gilpin, but alas I think they all moved to Georgia in 1910. Mind you who could blame them with the weather we are having in UK

There is more Pauline if you want it, I wasn't sure how much info you had. For example, Heywood is on earlier census' with his wife. If you'd like more just shout, always happy to oblige.

I have got Heywood's marriage to Eleanor Mullingshaw at Chadderton St Matthew In Oldham in 1871 and Eleanor's death in 1890.
