Thread: Lookup/ Marriage/ Hackett Family.

Hi all



I'm stuck on the Hackett Family. Hope someone can help before my head explodes This is what I have so far.



Michael Hackett born 1841 in Cashelos Tipperary. Children

James William Hackett born Dec Qrt 1866 in Oldham Lancashire.

John Joseph Hackett born June Qrt 1868 in Oldham Lancashire.

Thomas Hackett born Sep Qrt 1871 In Oldham Lancashire

Margaret (Mary Ann) Hackett born March Qrt 1874 Oldham Lancashire.

Julia Hackett born Jun Qrt 1877 Oldham Lancashire.

Kate Hackett born Dec Qrt 1878. Oldham

Michael Hackett (jnr) born 1880 Oldham.

I believe the last 3 children were from a second marriage to an Ellen (Helen) Galagher born 1854 Roscommon CO Frenchpark Ireland. She married Michael in 1875.

and the first four children was from a previous marriage. However I can't find his first marrage other than the mother's maiden name of Larney Lamey Lamy (various ways of spelling it)

Michael Hackett to either Isabella Cummings or Margaret Leeming.



I'll look for the family on the census to see if wife/mother's name was Margaret.

The above marriage looks promising Pauline.



1871 Census. William Walker is a boarder. Michael, Margaret, Cludy all born Castel Tipperary. All children born Hollinwood Lancashire.

Thankyou for your quick Response I did wonder if Miachael married a Leeming but having cross checked the 1881 Census with the Lancs BMD Website the first 4 children were born to a Laney, Larney, Lany with the last 3 children born to a Gallagher.



Your second post looks more promising. Michael and Margaret obviously married in Ireland before moving to Oldham. So a big thankyou slizzy for your help

My grandfather was Michael Hackett, b 1880 in Hollinwood, Oldham. His father's first wife was Margaret Larney and both recorded as born in Cashel, Tipperary. The only birth/christening I can find for a Micheal Hackett in 1841 in Tipperary was born to Patrick and Anastacia Hackett in Gartnahoe, Tipperary. Although his mother's name is given as Cludy in the 1871 census, it's possible that this was Margaret's mother and not Michael's. Hope this helps.
