Thread: james wood of scotland

looking for james wood born 1831.

all census results from 1861 show birth place as Scotland, but not district.

This wouldnt be so bad, but it is a very common name.

there are 24 James Wood's born in Scotland between the years 1830 -1832. If you have his marriage Cert, which will give his father's name, we might be able to narrow this down a tad..

father named as Robert Wood, labourer of Scotland.

Thanks for that bit of information. My grandfather's step-mother's relatives moved from Berwick and Roxbrugh to Newcastle. I had always assumed it was a long way.

If I remember my school day history its about 3 miles from the Scottish border but correct me if I'm wrong
