I'm struggling a bit here I'm looking for Samuel Place born March Qrt 1849, he married Emily Jane Wade in June Qrt 1884 in Prestbury Cheshire.

Have you the certificate for the Marriage? Does it show Samuels' fathers' name?





Ive just had a quick look and on the 1891 there is a

Samuel Place born c1858 Henbury, Cheshire a Grocer

with wife

Emily J born c1845 Staffs

Living at 149 Charter Street Manchester



He consistently gives 1858 and Henbury as birth.



By 1901 he has a new wife

Amelia born c 1867 and a daughter Nellie aged 2.

they are living 132 Albion St, manchester and he is listed as Shopkeeper - Grocer



From earlier census his father is Joseph.



I can't see a Samuel born 1849 married to an Emily J

I found exactly the same as Star and Loz: ie: the 1891 Samuel always indicates born Henbury c1858 :

1891: Manchester St Michaels, North Manchester, Lancashire

RG12 - Piece: 3247 - Folio 102 - pg 22

149 Charter Street (next door to a Butchers Shop)

Head: Samuel PLACE 33, Grocer, b Henbury Cheshire

Wife: Emily J PLACE 46, b Ipsbury (sic), Staffordshire

The Samuel Place I have was aged 2 in the 1851 Census, his father was Elias and Martha.

Looking through the marriages on the Cheshire BMD Site I only found Samuel to Emily in 1884. Samuel being 35 then so possibly this was a second marriage

I think the Samuel who married Emily J was adifferant one to yours.

Maybe your Samuel had died earlier??

Thankyou for the info. I found a death of Samuel in West MacClesfield in 1878 aged 26 on the Cheshire BMD Site. So obviously born about 1852. I just can't make out how he could be 2 years old on the 1851 Census
