Thread: confused on surname

Hi I am asking for some help (if at all possible), on a surname as there is some confusion, my grandmother alice b 10/3/1906 have not got birth cert have been told that maiden name was smith jamieson, have obtained marriage cert (off relative, death cert there but no birth), she was married to peter jensen (my grandfather) 26/5/1934 her fathers name was george smith Seaman (merchant service) deceased cld it be possble that she dropped jamieson when getting married, i know she had brothers Joseph and George sister elizabeth dob 26/3/1916 all born tynemouth district wld it be possible for you to help me on this matter unfortunately i do not know her mothers christian or surname.



Smith is a very common name so not sure if this will be possible.

thank you for that information Kelly and Slizzy, will now go and get birth cert from registry office, just out of curiosity why wld she have not put jamieson in when she got married that is so weird.

It is very weird i did have a look for a marriage for george smith and a jamieson and there was one in tynemouth but for 1918, so i doubt that was them.

do not think that will be their marriage, cld u tell me also plse, both fathers were Seaman(merchant service) but died b4 1934 where i can information about these 2 grandfathers.

Hi Slizzy just seen msg now, from what i am told George was born b4 Alice abt 1904 and Joseph was born after the sister that was born 1916 sorry not much to go on
