Default Stoustrup - Paterson Marriage Between 1929-1944

I'm trying to find details of a marriage between 1929-1944 for:

WILHELMINA PATERSON and WILLIAM STOUSTRUP a 2nd Officer (Junr.), Merchant Navy

William was born 1911 and died 11 Apr 1945 on the M.V. Panama (Liverpool).

He is "Remembered with honour Tower Hill Memorial, London - Panel 79"

    Any information would be appreciated

Hi Chiad - I looked through those dates but couldn't find the marriage. I looked on Scotlands People as well - nothing there either

    Hi

I was going to check 1927 & 28...maybe they could have married aged 16 - 17....unfortunately there is an error on ancestry indexes and am unable to check

My other thought is that they married overseas?

    Good Luck with your research

    Hi Loz, Gillian

    Thanks for the replies.

I was searching in New Register House in Edinburgh for information about this marriage on Tuesday and found nothing, so assumed it must have happened outside Scotland. As it was wartime, I would doubt if it was on board ship.

I couldn't find any re-marriage or death record for Wilhelmina either and I inadvertantly forgot to look for her birth date. She was a daughter of Andrew Millar Paterson and Elizabeth Laing - a first cousin twice removed.

Stoustrup is an unusal, possibly Scandinavian, name. William's parents were Ludwig and Ingeborg ... that much I got from the CWGC website where his demise is recorded.

    Ah, well, keep on looking
