I just recieved a family history that goes back to the mid 1600's, and was quite suprised at some of the things I found out. One of my main questions is the history of my ancestors from England, a Nicholas Carter. All I know about him is he was born in England about 1600 or so and was of the upper classes, not sure how high up, but i'm assuming not very, lol.
He had a son Nicholas II, born 1630, who moved to Ireland and was disowned and disinherited for marrying a lower class woman from Ireland named Mary, of Dragheda or Droghedda(sp), of county Meath, Ireland, no Christian name was given, or so the story goes. He was also one of the "Friends", known here in the US as Quakers. They came to the US in the late 1600's or early 1700's.
Nicholas II had a son with Mary named Nicholas III, who married one Margaret Bennington or Benningham of Dublin. As for other locations, Carters Alley, Dublin, Ireland is the most specific i could find in the records that far back.
Any help would be most appreciated,
Thank you
