    Default Titanic deaths...

    Can anyone tell me if the BMD index has Titanic victims in it's death index ? If not are they recorded anywhere that is available to us 'mere mortals'?

    Hi catwoman.

    Slizzy as posted a link to the Titanic Deaths in the Links Hint and Tips Forum.

    You may find more on the Titanic but you may have to go back a few pages.

    Hi Catwoman;

    Here are a couple of links for you.

    http://museum.gov.ns.ca/mma/titanic/victims.htm

    I visited Fairview Cemetery and Mt Olivet Cemetery in Halifax last fall (2007) some of the markers in Fairview just have numbers, these are folks who weren't identified at the time.

    Hello,

    I wonder if this would be of interest to you: http://archive.timesonline.co.uk/tol/archive/.

    The Times have put all their newspapers online from the first edition up until the eighties - 1785-1985. They have quite a big coverage of the Titanic. I can't swear to it but I think they had a casuality list.

    You will have to join up for a free trial but it's very simple. I've spent ages looking at historical events, really facinating. You can even type in a particular date that may be of some significance to you.

    I can't help with the certificates for those who perished on the Titanic but I do have a worldwide list of Memorials with names, both of Crew and passengers, survivors and victims. Just let me know the name you are looking for.

    Hi... it's George Henry Chitty & Archibald George Chitty. I have been told they are both remembered on the family grave at Southampton Old Cemetery... but as yet have not been able to get down there to see it or get a pic.

    Hi,

    Yes, you are right. Archibald George Chitty was a Steward age 28, and his father George Henry was an assistant baker age 44.

    Unfortunately, I am now virtually housebound or I would offer to take a photo for you. Sorry about that.

    Regards

    Victoria
