Thread: Edward Jenner

An interesting conundrum!



On the 1871 census there is a grandson in the Jenner household, age 1, Edward.



Amelia Jenner is still at home age 26 and I cannot read the inscription under the 'condition' column for her. It is possibly 'unmar?' Would this be an abbreviation used for unmarried and would this then possibly link her to the Grandson?



There is a brother to Amelia on the 1861 census (John, 2 years younger) but he seems to have moved away by the 1871 census.



I have tried in vain to locate Grandson Charles on the birth register but not come up with anything.



Can anyone shed any light on this?

Is it Edward or Charles and where did you find them living in 1871 ?

Thanks for replying. Sorry, got my names confused.



Edward Jenner (age 1) is listed as the Grandson of Elizabeth and Edward Jenner on the 1871 census, living in Portsmouth, Portsea. It says he was born in Middlesex, London (if my eyes are working correctly, hard to read). other daughter Amelia is still at home age 26.



I am also wondering if he is the son of John who has left home? He would have been approx 24 years old in 1871.
