    Default BIRTH--CHARLES MOSS--ORMSKIRK

I am trying to trace the birth of my 3 x great grandfather Charles Moss .

Most census returns state that he was born in Ormskirk Lancashire --the date varies but around 1806.--possibly as late as 1811.

He was living in Liverpool by 1841 , described as being a miller, and married to Ann Dobson and had children. I have the marriage record & baptismal records of the chidren, all of which took place at St Peter's church in Liverpool. The family lived in the Toxteth Park area of Liverpool

I have tried OPC for Ormskirk but the dates for the decade in which he was born haven't been recorded there yet. He was married in 1832 so no name is given for his father so I can't trace a possible marriage for his parents in Ormskirk either. I have been unable to find Charles on IGI and have tried OPC for baptism at St Peter's church in Liverpool as well without success. If he is in any of thse places I have missed him!

Can anybody suggest where else i could look please to trace his birth?

    Thank you

On BIVRI there are two records for Charles:

MOSS, Charles Birth 13 oct 1805 bap 24 nov 1805 St Mary Lanc Walton on the Hill

    Fa: John MOSS

    Mo: Margaret YOUNG

MOSS, Charles Birth 16 april 1811, bap 9 june 1811 Lanc Sephton

    Fa: John MOSS

    Mo: Shusannah

Not sure if any are yours, just thought I'd let you know what I found. Maybe a clue in Charles' children's names?

    regards,

Digger--Thank you for taking the trouble to look up Charles Moss .Nothing in either of the parents' names rings any bells at the moment I'm afraid, and they don't turn up in Charles children that I know of, but I will make note of them and see if anything turns up anywhere long the line

Interestingly, my grandmother who was a Moss--Charles was her great grandfather --had connections with St Mary's Walton & married at St Helen's church in Sefton!
