Default Anyone able to look up parish of records Yorkshire?

I have again come to a dead end and have James or John Wimbles He was born in Poppleton Yorkshire in 1740,

James/John Wimbles married Sarah Shepherd on 14.02.1773 in Healaugh Tadcaster.

also on 08.12.1785 St Mary Bishophill Junior.

    Possibly a renewal of vows?

I am looking for any parents named or any possible Siblings to him.

Most of the Wimbles on the ancestry boards seen to be related, but there are a few who don't seem to fit in such as Richard Wimbles' (1833) branch. So I am looking to find the siblings of James/John to maybe match it all up and possibly the parents.

    Can anyone help please?

    Regards

    Stuart

Hi Stooey, did you get your info from the igi?

If so........ the 1740 birth, and 1785 marriage are not records extracted from parish registers but member submitted records, therefore may, or ma not be correct. The 1773 marriage is an extracted record from the parish register.

    Hi Slizzy,

Thanks for the repy sorry for not replying sooner, I was waiting for an email to tell me that someone had replied, but never got one.

I have gotten my info from many places over the Internet including Genes Reunited, where one person who was researching names from Stockton looked through subscription sites and came up with info. I have also looked at the Family Search site, and Nofsinger gave the marriage date.

I do not know if all of the sites take info from each other or not, which means wrong info could be duplicated amonst many sites. I have not been able to bet back further than James/John's birth and his marriage(s) to Sarah Shepherd.

I have aquired microfiche for St Mary Bishophill Jr York Parish Registers for 1602-1812, which would cover any "Wimbles" events. There are 4 fiche and I managed to read 1 and a half with no trace of the name. My main problem is time restrictions.

I believe the info to be correct, but am open to discussion, as I am still pretty new to this.

    What do you think?

Hi stooey - I agree with Slizzy - only the 1773 marriage looks right. St Mary Bishophill Junior is on the IGI for the relevant dates and there are no records of John/James. I can probably check your information for you in the parish registers at the end of next week.

    Hi Stooey

I verified the Healaugh marriage - that is as on the IGI

The records are very difficult to read but I could not find anything corresponding to the St Mary Bishophill record.

I looked at Nether Poppleton and couldn't find a christening - unfortunately the library doesn't hold Upper Poppleton for the right dates.

Not a lot of help I'm afraid! With the IGI you need to check if a record is extracted (usually OK) or submitted (often suspect) - anything giving just a year or about a particular year is almost certainly wrong!

Thanks for you help Gillian. Sorry for not replying sooner, but I was again waiting for email notification and have been very busy at work and not on the PC as much.

I was given the info of DOB from someone and took it for granted, as Sarah was Christend in 1743 and is around the alleged date of 1740 for James/John.

I have not been able to look through the Microfiche of St Mary Bishophill Jr York Parish Registers for 1602-1812 yet as I am busy working. Is there any way to read a fiche at home? I tried to scan and look at the pic, but it was no good.

I will keep you informed of any changes and thank you once again for the help that you (and Slizzy) have given me

    Hi stoooey - you'll need a microfiche reader - it's a library job I'm afraid

    Good luck
