Can anyone tell me if the christian name Emmanuel can sometimes be refered to as Samuel please?

In general I wouldn't have thought so....BUT on a Census Return I think it would be possible....the Enumerator could have heard wrong! Actually I supppose a vicar or any official could have misheard rolleyes:
