Thread: request for a marriage look up

im looking for a marriage between a john norbury and a margaret winstanley it would have occured between 1861 and 1876 in possibly st helens lancashire, though it may have been wigan in any case it should be lancashire, i have searched the 1861 census where im pretty sure ive found margaret but her parents are listed with the surname crook ?



i have searched the bmd's but i think i maybe missing something, any help would be great as its doing my head in lol

There is a marriage in Prescott, vol 8b page 830a for a Margaret Winstanley and a John Norbury

Hi Im puzzled as usual lol..



If I search for Margaret Winstanley on freeBMD in 1868 it says..june q 8b 830a Prescott but gives no spouse.



If I search John Norbury 1868 it says june q 8b 630a Prescott and again doesent give me a spouse.



Is this the same marriage? Could someone check this please in case Im missing something and also how do I see the missing spouse?

You are correct in what you say. The transcription for John on freebmd does say page 630a, but if you click to see the actual image, it says 830a.

I'm not sure why neither spouse shows up with the other, but it does seem like a good match.

Yes I agree, it does seem the right couple. I saw the image and just wondered if you knew of a way to find the missing spouse..

I think the reason is that there is an error of the page number given for John on free bmd, so could be the reason why they are not showing up together.

I checked the original images for both John and Margaret and both show 830a.

hi, thanks eliz and light, i will now be able to order this cert, i too had seen these separate entries but i didnt have access to original images
