Thread: Anyone able to do a Tavistock, Devon, lookup?

I'm stuck, and have been for years, on the parentage of my ancestors William Newton and Grace Roberts.



According to census records they are both from Tavistock, with William Newton being born around 1810 and Grace Roberts being born around 1812.



I've found their marriage which was in Stoke Damerel in 1832 on Familysearch, but I don't know whether the actual parish record for their marriage may also give clues.

Karin, I don't know whether you have this information at all, but I've been able to find the children of William Newton and Grace Roberts:



From the 1841 census:

William Newton 33

Grace Newton 30

William Newton 9

Gertrude(?) Newton 6

Victoria Newton 3

Louisa Newton 1



They were living in Tavistock in Higher Back Street at the time of the 1841 census.

This piece of information may help to find out who William's parents were and also the parents of Grace Roberts.
