Thread: Williams of Wales Need Help!

Please Help!



I'm Stuck, and haveing no luck with my BMD look ups. Here is what I Have.



Thomas Reese Williams Born,2 Nov 1835 in Merthy Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales. Came to the USA in 1861-2

Father is listed as Reese Williams also of Merthy Tydfil,



Thomas Reese Williams Married Jane Price Daughter of Howell Price in 1858



There first child is Howell Price Williams Born, 8 April 1861 in Merthy Tydfil.

All outher children were born in USA.



I am trying to obtain info for copys of Birth and Marrage records also any censes info on this family unit would be great. Would love to take a step back with info on Reese Williams Family, Wife and other children,

The only census record I've found with dau Jane (born c. 1835) father Howell.

You are more than welcome. I have searched, and further searched, and these are the only appropriate records I have found. I would suggest you send for the birth certificate for Howell Williams 1861, to see if the parents match up to your info. You can order certificates from



http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/



Giving the vol and page numbers I quoted.



Tomorrow I will do further searches to see if I can find Thomas and Jane on the 1861 census, I did look tonight, but no joy (maybe they had left for the U.S before the census was taken) however to be sure, I'll take a detailed look.



Also if you send for the marriage cert. of Jane Price and Thomas Williams, it will give their fathers' names and occupations, and if the names match the census rcords I found, we can then see if the occupations also match.



Certs cost £7 from the GRO, obviously there will be postage to be added.

Been gone a few days, still thinking about the family Williams below!



Unsertin of info given on the UK census form,



Merthy Cynog Breconshire, listed by Rees Williams is this his place of birth or home at time of census?



Is there a street address listed for the home at time of census?



Were census taken every 10 years 1841-51-61? If so what about a Rees Williams with a first wife and an 8 year old son Thomas, same location in 1861?



I have sent a letter asking a groop in Merthyr Tydfil to do a look up on Howell Williams to verafie it befor I order/pay for the record, hope to here something soon.
