Thread: Gouldings of Liverpool

Hello, I am trying to trace the following family surnames:Gouldings of Liverpool. trying to trace John james Goulding and his parents before 1900.

Hi Slizzy, Thanks for getting in touch with me I really appreciate it.



The year My grandfather was born is unclear, but 1899 is about right I would think. I believe from a family source he was born in Sankey nr Warrington and moved to Liverpool presumably to find work.

I have looked at the birth indexes for John James Goulding born c. 1899,Warrington /Lancs area, and there are just two.



1. John James Goulding 1898 West Derby Lancs

2. John James Goulding 1890 Chorley Lancs (Chorley seems too far from Warrington, for this one to be him)



There were some births registered about the time, in the name of John (no James) Goulding.



3. John Goulding 1899 Warrington



Also there's lots of John (no James) Gouldings' born within the time frame in the Liverpool district, but not in Warrington.



Do you have any other info to work with, ie his siblings names?

There were 2 John James Gouldings' born 1880, in Prescot, is this too early?

His siblings were as follows: William,(my father),Anne, David, James, Rose, Gladys, Ronald, Lawrence.

The names you've given, are they John James' brothers and sisters, or his children? Do you have any idea of their birth dates? You say William was your father when and where was he born?

Hi Slizzy my apologies, They were his children to Anne Thompson.

they were all born in Liverpool.

my father (the eldest) was born in 1923 died 1981.



I can get the birth dates of the rest if you need them, I will forward them to you later.

Hi Slizzy, here are the rest of his childrens birth dates and in some cases there deaths:

Anne, 1925, David 1926-1999, James 1928, Rose1930, Gladys 1932-1993, Ronald 1935, lawrence,1940

Did your father have a middle name, and do you know which month he was born?



Any idea if John James had brothers', or sisters' and do you know anything about his parents'. Sorry for all the questions, but the more info I have to work with, the easier and quicker the search will be.



I have searched the marriage indexes for years 1920-26 and cannot find a marriage between Thompson/Goulding. It's possible one, or other of them were mistranscribed, so I'll do further searches

Hi Slizzy, no my dad just had the first name, as far as I am aware re grandad he did have brothers, but I can't find any information on them. Sorry!
