Default John Hunter born 1801 Grinton

I'm trying to trace the parents of this man I think his father was also a John Hunter possibly either from somwhere in Swaledale or Cumbria. I haave no idea who was John junior's mother at this point but he was born in Grinton and living with his elderly father in the 1841 England census. Any help you can give me will be very appreciated.

    Hi Friely,

I'm assuming you have John jnr. on the 1851 census, if not shout and I'll post details. I see John had a daughter named Dinah, and wonder have you considered this baptism record on igi?

John Hunter 27th Sept 1800, Hawes Yorkshire.

Parents ........ John Hunter and Dinah.

You could take a look at this link from our (AA's) 'links hints and tips' forum.

Thanks for that gem of info, I had the son in the 1841 census info and his family later but nothing on the parents I'm not currently able to access the ancestry site due to unforseen bills (vandals) but hope get access again next month. Dinah I guess that explains why one of his descendants was also named Dinah I wondered where the name came from! Do you know if they had any other children?

Thank you so much for your time and dedication in finding my missing ancestors. It's great to be able to fill in some gaps at last Just one more quick question is you don't mind..was Francis the father of Anthony Hunter who married Jane Raw?

    Hi Friely,

I don't think so, as Anthony Hunter married Jane Raw in 1820.

    Hi.

I believe John Hunter born in 1801( Married Sarah Ele Nov 19th 1920 in Grinton) was the son of John Hunter Born 1763 and Married Mary in 1807. other children Ann Born 1811, John Born 1813 in Gunnerside, Alice Born 1816 Gunnerside and Ralph in 1808. John and Ele had 9 Children, I can take you on that road if you want, pm with your e-mail address so that we can discuss further if you so wish.

I am looking for a connection between John Hunter born 1763 and Jonathan born in Gunnerside 1810 also is John connected to the Hunters in Westmorland?

    Best wishes

    Malcolm Hunter
