Thread: Walter Gower-Birth Registration Look up please?

Hello,



I am trying to order a birth certificate for Walter Gower who I believe was born 1846/1845 in Bedingham Norfolk. He married Harriet Appleton and moved to Ramsden Crays, Essex.



You would think that with all this information I could manage to get the necessary details...nope!



I keep coming up with contradicting info...can anyone help with the year, vol and page?



If you are feeling really keen I am also looking for his father Thomas Gower c1810 born Alburgh Norfolk who married Charlotte Barneby/Barnaby. Same problem with contradicting info.

bedlingham comes under loden district. there are these two births

walter thomas 1845 vol 13 241

walter thomas 1843. vol 13 211

first seems more likely. you could always order one with checking point of father thomas



you won't get father thomas birth certificate because before civil registration - you would need to look on parish records

I got confused because the another one came up in 1845 as Walter Gower Malling District.



Can I ask where you did the look ups for your response?

I'm sorry I can't as yet helpyou with the birth cert. but you may be interested to know that Honor Louisa Weston nee. GOWER b. 1872 was my great-grandmother and your Walter's niece. She was the daughter of Walter's brother Thomas Barnarby Gower. Thomas B christened his second son Walter.



Thomas Barnaby set up home in Loddon Norfolk with a his wife Selina Sophia (don't know her maiden name) and their is a website with all the baptisms of their nine children which is pretty easy to find.



I have a sister living in Alburgh, where you believe Thomas senior was born and I have asked her to research any interesting details.



I would love to hear anything else about the family.
