Does anyone know if it is possible to get details of births prior to 1837?

I am trying to locate one for 1822/23 in Rotherhithe.

Hi, thanks for reply. I wondered if that was the only way. Hope I can access some info online - it's a long way from Devon to London

Thanks Tralena and Starlight for replies. I have got details from familysearch.org on their IGI records but this seems to throw up more queries than it answers. The records are:



Isaac Francis FACER, born 4 Jun 1809, christened 25 Jun 1809 St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey.

Father: Isaac FACER, Mother: Nancy



Henry Benjamin FACER, born 2 Feb 1822, christened 3 Apr 1822 St John Horseleydown, Bermondsey.

Father: Isaac FACER, Mother: Nancy



Caroline Rebekah FACER, born 3 Sep 1827, christened 20 Sep 1827 Horseleydown, Surrey

Father: Isaac FACER, Mother: Nancy



Marriage record:

Isaac FACER and Nancy VESSEY 21 Aug 1822, St Leonards Shoreditch.



My main focus of interest is Henry Benjamin born 1822, but would like to clarify the others also.



Census records:

1841, Isaac FACER and Ann FACER, with daughter Caroline age 10



1851, Isaac FACER and Nancy FACER



1861, Isaac FACER (widow)



1871, Isaac FACER (widow)



I have death certificates for Nancy FACER in 1853, age at death 65 and for Isaac FACER in 1876, age at death 92.





I am also trying to clarify Elizabeth Sarah JAMES. Born abt 1824. She married Henry Benjamin FACER (the one born abt 1822). I have contact with other people through ancestry.co.uk who have her in their tree, but the James family records they have do not tie up - the person they record as her mother was born abt 1809 (did people have babies when they were 13???). The other thing that makes this doubtful is that Elizabeth was not (allegedly) the eldest child.



Sorry to ramble with such a lot of stuff - any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I cannot find any of these people on parishregister.com
