Hi Jenny,I do not know where Hemingbrough is but you should be able to get some info from the county record office, also the local archive office, local churches may still hold some records, but I think mostly they were sent to county records offices.Also have you tried the IGI?

I don't know where you live but if you can visit York the Borthwick holds Hemingbrough parish registers, I do believe for a fee you can request a look-up/research service (from the Borthwick) Good luck.
