Thread: Alfred Lucas/Mary Lucas (nee-Shaw)

Alfred Lucas born Sheffield 1864, Mary Shaw born Barnsley 1857., my Grandfather Walter Tolar Lucas was their son born July 1884 in Swinton, South Yorkshire, despite travelling to Barnsley/Rotherham, have been unable to confirm that Alfred and Mary actually married. According to my grandfather's birth certificate, they were married, but I can remember when my grandfather was alive, him saying as a child he was abandoned/left!! Also, I've not found any record of Alfred or Mary's death's anywhere, all in all very mysterious! Short of saying it's an Indiana Jones/Inspector Clueso task, any help,hints or pointer's in the right direction, I'd be very grateful for.

I HAVE FOUND HIM IN 1891 WHERE HE APPEARS WITH HIS MOTHER AND BROTHER HARRY 10, ALSO A FAMILY ACKLAM (LODGERS) 10 YEARS LATER HARRY AND WALTER ARE NEPHEWS OF A FAMILY ACKLAM AND HOYLE.

DO YOU HAVE ALL THE DETAILS OR SHALL I SEND THEM

Many thanks for your response/info, I already have the same info on a print out of the 1891 census record, am at a loss to explain what happened to Alfred, wonder if he became a King and burnt some cakes? Ha Ha!

Ah well, the "mystery search" goes on, anyway, many thanks again - very much appreciated.

Thanks a lot for your responding info, which I already had to hand., as I indicated in my initial thread, because I remember my Grandfather saying him and his brother were abandoned, when they were little kids, then he would "clam up" and wouldn't talk about what happened.

I think I've worked out what could have happened, but without evidence or being able to prove anything conclusive, can only be presumptious, think I'll leave it alone as things stand., but thanks again for help anyway.
