Yes I agree. The ages on the 1841 census are meant to be rounded down to the nearest 5 years. Not all were though, so you cannot always go by this. The 1851 is probably the nearest.

Thanks for the info, just one last query. Joseph's occupation is given as "Hatter"-what would this be? Sharon

A hatter = A maker of or dealer of hats.
