Hi Sharon, what's the name of the child you know of? Could it be Barbara?

I have Edith b 1871 Westerleigh & William b1876-found them on 1881 census. Eliza is a widow on this and brother in law Francis is living with them-they later married in 1881. I assume the 2 kids are Williams.

Can't be this family then?

What an amazing amount of information-thank you all so much. The William Batten in my line needs to have a brother Tom b1852,Gloucs. but settled in Pontypridd by 1891 so I'm still not sure if I have the right Battens. Thanks again for your help, Sharon
