Thread: Mexican bmd records Morahan

I am having trouble in accessing records located in Mexico. The only site I have come across is: Mexican Parish Records, 1751 - 1880. If anyone knows of anyother sites would you please let me know.

The surname I am trying to locate is Morahan and the given names are either Robert or John. Robert (originally of Ireland) possibly married Mary Emily surname unknown and had son John who was born in Acapulco, Mexico in 1855. John is my GGrandfather who married Martha Smith in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Hoping to hear from anyone!!!

Have you checked if the LDS hold anything useful? - go to familysearch.com & click on library catalogue. Also they have a Mexican Vital Records Index on CD - have you checked that?

Thanks Gillian. Will have a look tomorrow at the sites you suggest and let you know what happens. Did look at Family search but not the library section. I have much to learn.

Gillian, Have been searching as much as I can although finding way around some of these sites a little difficult. I am afraid I have had no luck! I can't even find Robert's birth. He was supposed to have been originally from Ireland but I can't seem to find either english or irish records before 1837. Can you advise please?

Hi tosh - well with family in Ireland and in Mexico you are bound to be struggling!

Do you know when John arrived in Australia? and from where?

I still think your best bet is the LDS records (those not online) can you go to their nearest family history centre & ask for advice?
