Thread: Sarah Gigham born 1859 - Barnsley

Above Sarah married my Great Grandad (Frank Parkinson) in Wakefield 2nd qtr of 1876, have been searching all week in Wakefield Parish Archives

to get sight of marriage certificate, to get her parents names, without a sign of success, its as if the Gigham name never existed, but 1881 census states she was born in Barnsley, to coin a line from a "pop" song = somebody help me yeh? Be very grateful for any tips/info.

The reference is Marriages 2nd quarter, 1876 vol 9c page 109 Wakefield

It may be that the Gigham name is a corruption of something different - but also it could be that she wasn't born Gigham - either an illegitimate birth or father died and mother remarried. But if you get the marriage certificate & find the name of her father it should make the search a lot easier.
