Thread: Handford of Glossop / Lord of Manchester

After some excellent work by Cherilyn I can tackle another branch of this tree.



So, looking for information on the family of Matthew Handford and Hannah Littlewood who were married in Glossop, Derby in 1781.

Their children:

Peter (1787)

Joseph (1789) married Mary KIRK

Hannah (1791) married John SWAIN or SAXON

Sarah (1793) poss. marr. Wm NEWTON

Martha (1796)

Matthew (1798) married Sarah GARSIDE

Grace (1800)



All born Glossop.



Also, Joseph & Mary (Kirk)'s children:

Hannah Kirk (1814)

Anne (1815) married John OATES?

Peter (1816)

Eliza (1820)

Mary (1822)

Joseph (1824) m. Jane GREGORY

John (1826)

Charles Matthew (1831)



All born Hayfield, Derby, except Charles born Glossop, who came to Australia in 1863.



Oh, I'll do this again and ask for Charles' wife's family:

Henry Lord married Sally Howard 1841, Manchester (not sure if before or after census was taken). Children (William, Edward, Hannah, James, Susanna) born between 1842 and 1852, all in Lancashire

Ah, so before the census. Which means there's less likelihood of finding their family members (siblings) - unless they stayed with their parents for a little while......
