Thread: Marriage Thompson/Lukey

Hi,

Can anyone help I am looking for the marriage place and date of Baldwin Thompson to Caroline Lukey.

He was born in Burnley Lancashire in June 1878, Caroline was born in Dalton in Furness Lancashire on the 1876. This is Carolines first marriage, her second marriage was to a Reuben Hesketh Yates in Burnley Lancashire in the 4 quarter of1895.

If she was previously married to Baldwin Thompson she would be Minnie Thompson when she married Edward Mulroony. Am I getting confused??

I found the 2nd marriage in 4thq 1895, to a Caroline LAKEY..if your dates are correct then she would have been aprox 19 yrs old which doesnt give much leeway for a previous marriage.



Sorry but I cant find a previous marriage. What makes you think she was married twice?

I have found Balwin Thompsons date of death, it was in September 1921 so if there was a marriage they must have divorced and as you say the marriage was very short.

Hi Tom - the marriage to Reuben Yates is a Caroline Lakey (not Lukey). Like Light it seems to me a bit implausible - are you just going on what your informant says or do you have some info you haven't posted? Divorce was very uncommon indeed in those days and for a girl of about 18?

What is the last bit of information you have on this line that you personally know to to be correct? - it might be best to go back to that and search again from there.

Incidentally birth indexes are complete (though not on freeBMD) and can be searched - no need at all to wait for transcription

Thankyou Raven I have the birth and death dates for Baldwin but not the census info. Thanks for that.

Hi Gillian, I have a photo of them together but no date. This and all the info was sent to me by the g/daughter of Carolines younger sister. So I will have check back with her. These are my fathers g/ aunts and uncles, so I am pretty sure of most of the details. Still its back to the drawing board on Caroline. Thankyou for all your help.
