Hi Pauline - I haven't found him but if anyone else would like to have a try, Ashborne is just the registration district not necessarily the place of birth - and it spans the boundaries of Derbyshire and Staffordshire
GIllian
Hi Gillian.
Ok thanks
Having spoke to my mum tonight she didn't know her mum (my nan) had remarried so she was in shock
My mum knew that she had a couple of lodgers living with her but she threw one of them out. My mum also said that they was only after her money. It seems like she married one of the lodgers and was to embarrassed to tell my mum for fear of being talked out of marrying him. So in my opinion I guess she kept the marriage quiet.

Hi Pauline,
I'm not sure I'm reading your post right. Is it the registration your after or do you already have this and are looking for a possible marriage?

Hi Pauline,
Have checked 1901 Cencus without any trace of James Charles Egerton.
It would be virtually impossible to find out his parentage without applying for a copy of the birth certificate.
Nanna
Hi Nanna.
Thankyou for looking anywayEven Gillian had a look and she couldn't find him either
other than DOB and Registration District of Ashbourne.
So looks like I'll have to send for B/C as you say. I'd be quite intrigued to send for M/C to just for curiosities sake.
Hi Pauline,
It's one of those occasions unfortunately when you're unable to advance any further without a certificate.
Let us know how you get on
Nanna
Hi Nanna.
Yes I will do. I'll send for them next Tuesday. Not sure of James's B/C though would I be issued with the right certificate by stating his name, Vol number and page number as to that on the freebmd site?![]()
Hi Pauline - yes the registration number as on freeBMD is what you need to get the certificate. What an extraordinary story!
