    Default Daniel Potts

    Hi

Can anyone help me in searching for Daniel Potts first wife?

Daniel Potts was married to Jane Barrett in 1854 although by 1881 she was widowed.

Daniel Potts (Jnr) was Jane's stepson born 1840 in Adlington Cheshire and died in 1884 in Prestbury.

    Thanks

    Hi Gillian,

Thankyou so much. It is a perfect match

I guess Daniel's other children apart from little Daniel were old enough to

make their own way in the world.

in 1851 same family is still in arlington. daniel is widowed and interestingly a farmer of 26 acres. there is also an elder daughter hannah (born c 1825) so the marriage to the first wife might be earlier than you think. the elder sons are coal miners.

    Hi welshlady.

Thankyou for the info, but as I am now somewhat confused with this Daniel Pos born 1802 in Adlington, the only death for him is recorded on Cheshire BMD as having died in 1862 aged 60. Now this is where the confusion seeps in Ellen Potts born Sep 1867 and Mary Potts born Sep 1871 Mother Jane (second wife) widowed, that's if Daniel died in 1862.

Jane was a farmer of 30 acres.

Hi I can see the problem. I can see the 1871 and 1881 census you are looking at. it is obviously the same family in as at same address. So either Daniel didnt die in 1862 or mum Jane has been a "little naughty!!"

cant see another death for daniel, but might be there somewhere. you would have to send of for ellen or mary' s birth certificate and see if a father is given or not.

    Hi welshlady.

I guess I will have to order a B/C for Ellen or Mary.

Well you have given me quite alot of information to go on so hopefully I will be able to piece it altogether

It is thought provoking if Jane was a little naughty

but then that's all part and parcel of ancestry

Thankyou WELSHLADY. The info should keep me going for awhile.
