Thread: Up to date Tattersalls.

The wonder and the agony of Genealogy, you find one generation then you want the next.

Recenty I was able to find Mark Tattersall b.1807 Goldshaw Lancaster and add his twelve siblings. We also are closeing on James Tattersall and his wife Susannah. Their birth dates are still missing but if we add twenty years to the year of the first child [1786] we have approximate birth dates [1768].



If you can give me their birth date and any other thing one them that would be appreciated.



If we can get their parents even better.

I have found that Mark was actually the youngest of the 13 children of James and Susannah TATTERSAL / TATTERSALL.

Since the first child was born in 1786, I would expect the marriage to be about 1785/1786.

The only marriage that I can find for a James TATTERSAL with wife Susannah is the following

Hi Ray - I'm glad you have established Mark's birth and are now happy that the other children belong to the same family.

The James/Susannah marriage looks right.

But now I'm afraid as I indicated in an earlier post you hit the real problems!

These are all James Tattersalls baptised in Newchurch in Pendle at around the right time. I have not recorded a couple where I found a record that they died in infancy.

James Tattersall 16 Aug 1761 parent John (maybe this one died but there isn't a record on the parish register)

James Tattersell 26 Jan 1762 parent John

James Tattersall 16 Jan 1769 parents Richard & Elizabeth (maybe too late but you don't know dob)

Well - they called their first son John which is an indication but hardly proof!

No the best I would be able to do is remove 20 years from the first child's birth to come up with a guess-stamet, John b.1786=1766. Which only a firm possibility of a definite maybe.

I found a Tattersall yesterday at the Lancashire Records Office that might interest you.



Burial of Susan wife of Jas. Starkie, daughter of James and Susan Tattersall. This was at Wheatly Lane Ingamite Church, very near to Newchurch in Pendle where my Tattersalls are from.
