I have Walter Joseph Batten b 1885,Ystrad,Glam. 100% sure.

His father was Tom Batten ,his mother was Sarah b Gloucs.?

Grandparents Robert & Mary.? Or so I thought. Now I've found another Tom Batten b Cardiff ,around the same time ,with Grandparents Edward and Mary. So which family do I go with? I can't narrow this family down at all and it is driving me crazy! Maybe a fresh pair of eyes will see where I am going wrong. Be glad to hear from you, Sharon

Hi, Slizzy, Edward & Mary Ann obviously moved to Wales at some point and had a son Tom. I've been told by a contact that Tom was definitely born in Wales and that his father was Robert Batten and Mary Evans : the only Tom I found born in Wales had parents Edward & Mary.So you see my dilemma! Walter J. Batten born Ystrad has parents Tom and Sarah, both born Westerleigh Glamorgan.

Hi again. I've had census details for the Westerleigh family and gone with that link but its always nagged me that I was assured Tom was born in Wales. Not to worry - I'll put it to bed for tonight, I'm worn out thinking about it! Thanks for your help, Sharon

Sorry, forget what I said about Westerleigh Glamorgan. I had done a google maps search, but after looking again I think 'Westerleigh Glamorgan' is the name of a business. I'll try to find them in 1901, there may be a clue there!
