Thread: Marriage query

Hi, I've found a marriage ref for Mary Elizabeth Stoddart 1903 but there are 2 male names on the page. How do I know which one she married? Tried every possible way of splitting the info but keep getting same results! Sharon

You just go to Ancestry Index...check the two men (Reg. Nos)...and there you are !!!

I presume you got info. from FreeBMD ?

I subscribe to Ancestry.co.uk

When you know the name; year; month etc. (from FreeBMD) you can go straight to the lady (on the Ancestry BMD Index); find her Reg No. then see which of the two guys Nos. correspond in the same year / quarter.

EASY!!!!

Its becomes a lot easier to check who each person has married by checking the births of children. However the Mothers maiden name wasn't listed until 1911.



Having done a quick check on FreeBMD i have found the following:



Births Jun 1919 (99%) Davies Kenneth C Stoddart Pontypridd 11a956

So i think you could "safely" say that Mary married Frank Davies

Very sorry folks..you're right...I'm wrong.

However...you have exposed a major error in Ancestry.

When I entered "Frank Davies" in Jul,Aug,Sept. 1903....nothing !!! So, wrongly, assumed it must be Charles Baldwin.

On investigation I find that the relevent page (89)is missing from Jul, Aug, Sept. BUT !!! is entered under Jan, Feb, Mar.

Please accept my sincere appologies Sharon. I still have a long way to go in the biz.

Don't worry Jim! I cross ref. all these people on Ancestry too and couldn't match any of them up. Two entries to a page would make life so much easier! I thank you for your time and interest,Jim. and at least we've got everyone discussing this! Sharon
